Project Description:
Commencing in September 2011, a+a macliver have undertaken the role of architectural consultant for the manufactured accommodation units for John Holland, for the 3800 man Construction Village campus at the LNG processing plant site just South of Onslow.  Beginning with producing and coordinating full compliance documentation for the Chevron specification, along with BCA and Australian Standards requirements, a+a macliver have taken a lead role in producing the full compliance package for the Head Contractor.  Working then closely with the manufacturer in Thailand C&T Modular Co. Ltd., we produced a prototype building for review and approval by the Head Contractor John Holland, along with Chevron and their appointed Project Manager Bechtel.Working closely with the fabrication team in Thailand, we developed numerous innovative solutions to solve the many complex challenges posed in offshore fabrication of wholly completed building units, in a rapid program timeframe, to a complex specification, all able to be transported thousands of kilometres across sea and land.  An example innovation includes the development of the folding verandah system, one which is easily erected on site by two workers in four fold up panels without the need for working at heights.  The panels served to protect the side mounted equipment such as external lights, break-glass alarms and door handles during transport, as well as being folded into position on-site with minimal effort and maximum speed. The 952 building modules are in continuous production currently with final delivery of units expected late 2013.
